Fangirls, it’s hard to believe I haven’t written about this dear ol’ villain yet, when Spongebob Squarepants is most certainly a favorite show of mine. And to any Squarepants fan, there’s nothing more frustrating than Plankton. That little butthead is not even fun to hate just a little bit. He’s just the worst.
For those who may not know much about this little sea pest, Plankton is the owner and sole employee of the Chum Bucket. His restaurant sits across from the Krusty Krab, and after watching them be far more successful than his place, he dedicates most of his time to sabotaging them and trying to steal their secrets. Mostly, the secret recipe for Krabby Patties.
Plankton would, and does, do everything in his power to get the recipe. He comes up with plan after plan, one ridiculous scheme after another, in attempts to learn the recipe. In collaboration with his computer wife Karen, Plankton tries, but always fails.
Plankton isn’t even the great kind of villain that has some special things you like a little bit. There’s so many villains that are easy to love despite their evilness. But Plankton is just annoying. I admire his persistence, it is unwavering. However, I could go without having to see him causing trouble around Bikini Bottom.
But alas, Plankton will forever be bringing the “terror” to the seas and will remain in Spongebob’s life. The rival between Plankton and Mr. Krabs will rage on, and defenses against his plans will always stay in place. Oh Plankton, I will never really understand you.
